Markets

The primary markets for the Autocopter are (1) Personal Transport which today means being flown by generally non-professional pilots, some of whom will have some trouble accumulating even the minimum of flying hours to maintain a licence, and (2) Air Taxis, and (3) Corporate, Freight, Military, Police and Ambulance services, all but the first group of which will be flown by professional pilots, and many of which will spend much of their time flying in heavily built-up areas, in crowded airspace, often in poor weather and coming and going from small and constricted sites.

It then does not take much to work out why ‘easy to fly’ and ‘safe to fly’ were at the top of Horizon’s priorities. A lack of these has kept the size of the helicopter market down and prices up. The first generation of all-electric, multi-prop urban air vehicles is extremely limited in its capability and market size. Some will come up against difficulties in obtaining certification. The Autocopter changes all of this, so when Horizon says it means for the Autocopter to be Disruptive this is where we are coming from.
